Events Band

As a professional events band for hire, we guarantee a detailed approach above all to what we provide, from planning to performing! We appreciate for example that the success of any event means so much to the organisers behind it. From large awards evenings and gala events to exclusive product launches the aim is to successfully deliver the company narrative so that the attendees come away thinking “Wow! That was something else!”

Previous satisfied clients include Cancer Research, M&S and Audi to name just a few. We have been entrusted to provide the live entertainment for the Stan Bowley Trust’s annual fundraising ball every year since 2015 too!

What We Play

As a party band we’ve unquestionably got the repertoire to get the dance floor full, from 60’s classics to modern anthems. We always find the best thing is to first chat together about what you have already planned across the evening specifically. Then, we can make our recommendations about the number of sets we’ll play, the best times to play them and finally what song choices will get the most out of the night. As you’ll see, we certainly love what we do and are passionate about getting the party started!

Before The Gig

Providing a professional and personal service is emphatically at the heart of what we do as an events band for hire. So before the day, we will be in contact with you to go through both logistical and musical details. We will also keep in communication with other companies involved in the event too. These might include the audio-visual (AV) team as well as the venue itself.

A Gig In The Life

Below in summary, is a rough account of what House of Chords get up on a gig day! Obviously each gig is different and we pride ourselves in being a flexible and versatile events band for hire. We will chat over everything when you get in touch, but to give you some insight in the meantime, here is a gig in the life!

Arrival and Load In

The arrival and load-in will depend on the nature of each event and whether there is a separate AV company or whether we are providing all of the sound and lighting equipment. We will usually arrive on the day by mid-afternoon to complete everything in good time before the guests arrive.

Set Up and Sound Check

We know that time management is absolutely crucial in making events run as planned and above all, smoothly. You can rest assured we have great experience though in providing an efficient setup and sound check. If we are providing our standard sound and lighting equipment, in general we like to allow 90 minutes for this. If we are bringing a larger rig than usual to set up and sound check this will be factored into plans for the day at the earliest stage of planning in case it changes our arrival time.

Background Music

Once the evening begins we can provide background music through the PA before and in between our sets as desired.

First Live Set

Our live performance is firstly about getting guests on the dance floor thereby starting the party proper!. As a live party band we aim to provide authentic and high quality entertainment. The actual start time will vary depending on the event because it is important to make the most out of the live music later in the evening.

Break

We are always flexible with the timing of our live sets so as to keep your guests entertained regardless of any changes in circumstances on the day or if timing overrun. When we have previously been the main attraction at an event for example, we have played one two hour set. We are always happy to do this in the event that it complements the whole evening’s entertainment.

Final Live Set

The final set is where we undoubtedly bring out the biggest and best stuff in our repertoire in effect giving your guests a live music experience they won’t forget!

DJ Music

Finally, after the last live song from us it’s straight into the DJ Music. At this point we can keep the party going or wind the atmosphere down as appropriate. For this reason all bookings come with a basic DJ service for no extra charge. This is run by members of the band generally using a MacBook Pro through our digital mixer. If something more special is required, we can by all means arrange an upgraded DJ package. We are able to offer the choice of a number of high quality experienced event DJs so as to enhance the entertainment when the band are not playing.

Pack Down and Good Byes

Following the conclusion of the live music, we will subsequently begin to de-rig & pack down. We will be as descreet as possible to create a smooth and effective end to the event

Booking Options

Standard Events Package

Summary of standard features when hiring the band for your event:

  • 2 hours of live music (for example 1 x 2 hour set or 2 x 1 hour sets)
  • High Quality HK Audio PA system and 18 unit DMX controlled lighting system (suitable for at least 250 guests)
  • Free basic DJ service through laptop manned by members of the band
  • Midnight finish

Additional Events Options

As each event is different there are obviously extra details that you’re passionate about to make sure your event stands out. With this in mind there are lots of optional extras to consider, such as:

  • Upgraded PA and even more lighting coupled with a sound engineer
  • Learn a new song request to perform live (e.g. for awards walk on music)
  • National or international travel
  • Professional DJ
  • Late finish (generally anytime after midnight)
